King Pin Repair & Reinforcement Project
This project involved a complete king pin repair and structural reinforcement on a heavy-duty trailer frame. The original king pin assembly had significant wear and structural fatigue, which can lead to unsafe towing conditions and excessive stress on the trailer frame and fifth-wheel connection. Our team at EZ Welding & Fabrication in Gillette, Wyoming performed a full king pin rebuild, reinforcing the surrounding steel structure to restore strength and reliability.
The process began by carefully removing damaged material and preparing the trailer frame for repair welding. Proper metal preparation is critical for structural welding, especially on components that carry heavy loads like a king pin plate. After cleaning and grinding the affected areas, we fabricated custom steel reinforcement plates designed to distribute load more evenly across the trailer frame. These reinforcements help prevent future cracking or fatigue in the surrounding steel structure.
Next, we installed a new king pin mount and reinforced structural steel plate, welding the assembly into place using heavy-duty welding processes suited for high-stress trailer components. Our welders ensured proper penetration and structural integrity throughout the repair, creating a solid and long-lasting connection between the king pin housing and the trailer frame.
Projects like this require precision fabrication and experienced welding techniques, particularly when working with trailer frames and heavy equipment components. At EZ Welding & Fabrication, we regularly perform trailer repair welding, structural steel reinforcement, king pin replacement, and heavy equipment repairs for customers across Gillette, Campbell County, and the surrounding Powder River Basin.
If your trailer or heavy equipment is showing signs of king pin wear, cracked frames, or structural damage, our team can evaluate the repair and provide reliable solutions designed to keep your equipment operating safely.
